ATC Tower Trainer: Practice Air Traffic Control With Your Voice
Reading phraseology is useful. Saying it under pressure is different.
That is why we built ATC Tower Trainer, a new iPhone app that gives aspiring controllers, student pilots, and aviation enthusiasts a place to practice clear, confident radio communication using their own voice.
The app turns an iPhone into a portable training session. Press and hold to transmit, speak the call, and receive immediate feedback without needing another person to play the pilot.

Five Ways to Train
ATC Tower Trainer includes five focused modes that build from aviation fundamentals to managing a complete traffic picture:
- NATO Alphabet builds speed and accuracy with aviation phonetics.
- Traffic Calls develops confidence identifying and reporting aircraft positions.
- Callsign Practice helps make varied aircraft identifiers feel automatic.
- Phraseology presents realistic situations and checks your spoken response.
- Tower Simulator puts you in control of active VFR patterns and ILS arrivals at a parallel-runway airport.
Each mode is designed for short, repeatable practice. You can work on one skill for a few minutes or move into the simulator for a longer session.
Control Traffic by Speaking
The Tower Simulator is the core of the app. AI pilots fly the pattern, report their positions, request clearances, and respond to your instructions. You manage the traffic by issuing spoken ATC commands while following aircraft on the radar and airport displays.

The simulation includes multiple general aviation aircraft types, VFR pattern traffic, instrument arrivals, realistic callsigns, and push-to-talk controls with haptic feedback. It is built to make phraseology practice active rather than passive.
Feedback That Helps You Improve
ATC Tower Trainer tracks accuracy, streaks, personal bests, and achievements across training sessions. Learning support is available when you need help, while repeat practice makes it easy to see where your communication is becoming faster and more consistent.
Speech processing happens on the device. Your practice audio is not recorded or sent to a server, so you can train privately and use the app wherever it is convenient.
Built for the Next Repetition
ATC Tower Trainer is not a replacement for FAA Academy instruction, facility training, or flying with a qualified instructor. It is a way to get more repetitions between those experiences.
Whether you are preparing for an ATC career, improving pilot radio work, or simply want to understand tower operations, the app gives you a realistic place to speak, make mistakes, and try again.
